Campaign I charge accurately
The fire department is sounding the alarm. “People underestimate the danger,” says Gerard Holtkamp of the North and East Gelderland Safety Region. Batteries are placed on the couch, on the carpet, or charged in the hallway—often the only escape route in a home. Even a single small spark can have disastrous consequences.
To raise awareness, the fire department launched the campaign I charge accurately. With tips such as:
- Only charge when you're nearby.
- Use a smoke detector in the cargo area.
- Do not expose batteries to cold, heat, or moisture.
- Always use the original charger.
- Have a bike mechanic check your battery after a fall.
The message is clear: Safe charging is a matter of awareness and proper precautions, whether it's an e-bike or a fat bike.
